        Sha la la la

Verse 1:
 Am F
I was down at the New Amsterdam
    Dm G
staring at this yellow-haired girl. Mr.
 Am F
Jones strikes up a conversation, with this
 G Am
black-haired, flamenco dancer. She dances while
            F Dm
her father plays, guitar. She's suddenly
 G Am F G
beautiful. We all want something beautiful. I
                          Am
wish I was beautiful. So come dance this silence
 F Dm G
down through the morning. sha la la la la la
       Am F G Am F
la la yeah uh huh... Cut up, Maria!

      Dm G
Show me some of them Spanish dances.
 Am F G Am
Pass me a bottle, Mr. Jones. Believe in
 F Dm G
me. Help me believe in anything 'cause
 Am F G
I, want to be someone who believes, yeah...

Chorus:
 C F G
Mr. Jones and me, tell each other fairy
           C F
tales, yeah well we stare at the beautiful women
      G
"She's looking at you. Ah, no, no, she's looking
    C F G
at me." Smiling in the bright lights. Coming
                C F
through in stereo. When everybody loves you,
 G
 you can never be lonely.

Verse 2:
 Am F Dm
Im gonna paint my picture. Paint myself in
 G Am
blue and red and black and gray. All of the
      F G
beautiful colors are very very meaningful. You
 Am F Dm
know gray is my favorite color. I felt so
 G Am F G
symbolic, yesterday. If I knew Picasso, I would buy
           C
myself a gray guitar and play,

Refrain:
 F
 Mr. Jones and
    G C
me look into the future. We stare at the
      F G
beautiful women "She's looking at you. Uh, I
                C
don't think so. She's looking at me." Standing
        F G
in the spotlight. I bought myself a gray
         C F G
guitar. When everybody loves me, I will never
      Am Fmaj7 Am
be lonely, I will never be lonely, I'm never gonna
        G Am
be lonely. I want to be a lion.
 Fmaj7 Am
Everybody wants to pass as cats. We
                G
all want to be big, big stars, but we've got
                Am
different reasons for that. Believe in me
      Fmaj7
because I don't believe in anything
 Am G
and I, want to be someone to believe, to believe,
 C F G
to believe. Mr.Jones and me, stumbling
                C
through the barrio. Yeah we stare at the
      F G
beautiful women "She's perfect for you, Man,
                     C
there's got to be somebody for me."I want to be
        F G
Bob Dylan. Mr. Jones wishes he was someone just a
           C F
little more funky. When everybody loves you, son,
 G
that's just about as funky as you can be.

Refrain & End:
 C F G
Mr.Jones and me staring at the video. When
 C F G
I look at the television I want to see me,
           C
staring right back at me. We all want to be
 F G
big, stars but we don't know why and we
           C F
don't know how. But when everybody loves me, I'm
           G
going to be, just about as happy as I can be.

End:
 C F G
Mr. Jones and me, we're gonna be big stars...
